Learn The Strategy I Use To Get 10-30 High-Paying Tutoring Customers

I have been marketing and growing my tutoring business for over 7+ years now which means I have had the opportunity to make a lot of mistakes and test a lot of different strategies. So, in this blog post I'm going to share with you the strategy that helps me get a consistent stream of leads and how I turn those leads into paying customers. At the end of the day, without paying customers you don't have a business...So let's dive right on in!

The goal of this blog post is to give you a complete strategy that will help you consistently grow your online (or offline) tutoring business.

The Strategy

Let's first begin by identifying the strategy with a broad overview and then we will break down each stage in more detail.

  • Create a traffic source.
  • Create a landing page with a Lead Magnet (Give something away for free in exchange for their email).
  • Present them with an offer to book a call with you.
  • Survey them.
  • Thank them.
  • Follow-up with your audience until their eyes bleed.

Getting Traffic

The first step to getting leads is eye balls. You must get attention on your business or you'll forever be the best kept secret! You're an incredible tutor, people need to know you exist.

There are 2 main sources of traffic for your tutoring business

  • Paid ~ AKA Facebook ads, google ads, etc.
  • Organic ~ Instagram page, YouTube channel, etc.

For this post we are going to focus primarily on paid advertising, specifically Facebook & Instagram ads.

I won't walk you through how to create the actual Facebook ad in this post because that is beyond the scope of this blog but I will give you examples of what your Facebook ad could look like.

I have been tutoring students for over [Time], and this is a consistent pattern I have seen after helping over [# of students] students over the years...

Facebook Ad Example:

The Facebook ad has to send traffic somewhere. This is what we call a landing page. This landing page is going to be how we exchange our free lead magnet for their name and email address. In the example above I sent traffic to what I was calling my Multiplication Mastery Program. This was a free course I was offering parents to help kids master their multiplication facts.

When creating your Facebook ad make sure that your ad is congruent with the landing page. For example, I am offering a free multiplication mastery program to parents so my ad, as well as my landing page are both talking about the multiplication mastery program.

You'd never want to have a landing page and an ad that don't agree with each other. Sounds obvious, but I've seen many ads that don't align.

Book A Call With You

Once someone clicks on "Give Me Free Access Today!" and they give you their name and email they will then be presented with an offer to book a call with you!

The goal of this page is simply that! To get some of your fresh leads to book a call with you to learn more about your tutoring services. This is the money making page.

On this page people have the opportunity to apply to book a call with you. Once they click on the button to apply they are taken over to a calendar page where can pick a date and time that is convenient for them to talk with you about your tutoring services.

Once your potential customer books a calendar appointment with you I have a series of emails and texts automatically go out reminding them of our call. This helps increase my show up rates for the calls. Remember, people forget & get busy just like you so giving them helpful, friendly reminders is a good idea!

Once they fill out a time for a call they're asked to fill out a simple survey that has 4 easy questions.

These are the questions I ask...

  • What's your child's current grade?
  • What does your child struggle with most academically?
  • How long has your child been struggling?
  • How much are you willing to invest into tutoring per month?

The reason I survey the people who book a call with me is because it gives me a lot of valuable information that I can leverage going into the sales call. Use these questions to help agitate their pain and solve their problems. This will significantly improve sales rate!

After that I simply send them to a thank you page and invite them to do one more thing for me, either subscribe to my YouTube channel, join a group or something along those lines. We want to maximize our traffic.

After this your job isn't done! The money is in the follow-up.

Once a lead comes in a large portion of them won't book a call with you right away, and that's okay! This is why you want to have an automated welcome follow-up sequence that helps you build a relationship with your audience.

People want to do business with people who they know, like and trust. This is the beginning of that process.

On top of your welcome sequence you should be re-targeting anyone who lands on your lead magnet page but doesn't insert their information as well as retarget people who claimed the lead magnet but didn't book a call with you.

Retargeting is one of the most powerful methods out there to grow your business.

Lastly, I'd urge you to send out a weekly newsletter to your email list so you're always in the forefront of your audiences mind. They may not need tutoring today, tomorrow or even next month but when they do need tutoring...They will give you a call.

This is the strategy that has helped me grow my tutoring business to what it is today. This isn't a get rich quick strategy but it's a strategy that will help you grow long term in a consistent and predictable way.
